Syrian Clashes Ease After Israeli Air Strikes in Damascus
By Deadly sectarian clashes in Syria had seemingly eased on Thursday, after a ceasefire was announced between groups fighting in Suwayda and government forces started to withdraw from the Druze-majority southern province. Syria's interim President Ahmed al-Sharaa, in his first public comments since violence broke out over the weekend, said he had reached an agreement with Druze factions to withdraw from Suwayda and hand over security responsibilities to the local group. Israel hasn't commented on the ceasefire but had said Wednesday it would continue to strike Syria until the government pulled out of Suwayda.

Syria announces ceasefire after sectarian violence
BUSRA AL-HARIR, Syria — Syria 's defence minister announced a ceasefire shortly after government forces entered a key city in Sweida province on Tuesday. The announcement came a day after sectarian clashes that killed dozens, and after a state-run news agency report that Israel had launched a strike in the area.
